HOLY GROUND- TAYLOR SWIFT
This was definitely a turning point month. I was really sad the month before and wanted to go home. But, in May I had my Berlin school trip and it was one of my favorite moments of exchange. That experience turned my exchange around and I ended up having one of my favorite months of exchange.
May was spending time with my classmates, getting to know my new host family, listening to good music, visiting a new country, and feeling so grateful to be in the Netherlands this year. This goes to show that for exchange, you've got to just keep going and pushing through the lows because highs will come and they are so worth it.
I chose Taylor for one of my most important months because Taylor is everything so yes. "Holy Ground" was a song that was playing before my Maisie Peters' concert, also one of my favorite memories in May. The songs Maisie chose to play before her concert inspired a playlist that I created and listened to religiously throughout this month, especially on Berlin trip. I would listen to these songs while getting ready in the morning and then while sitting outside in our special balcony, the sun shining. This month was also the mark of the season of summer, and now the sun is shining and it is warm but not hot like in Houston.
I chose "Holy Ground" less for the lyrics and more for the melody. It's just a song you want to dance to with friends but also by yourself too. My favorite part is the bridge. "Tonight I'm gonna dance for all that we've been through but I don't wanna dance if I'm not dancing with you."
