Song of the Month- August

SECRETS FROM A GIRL (WHO'S SEEN IT ALL)- LORDE

August was my first month in the Netherlands! This song felt like a security blanket for me when I first got here. This was the song I listened to at the airport and the song I listened to when I was landing. I also listened to this song while biking to and from school. Secrets from a Girl feels like an older sister (in this case Lorde) telling me life advice from her teen years and comforting me, saying that I'll be okay.

I love the lyrics "Growing up a little at a time then all at once// Everybody wants the best for you But you gotta want it for yourself."

This period of my life truly makes me feel like I am growing so much. During August, specifically, I felt like I was all of a sudden, way older and more mature than I had realized. At first, it made me scared and a little sad, but now, it feels so amazing and cool that I am aware of myself maturing, that I can feel myself changing and growing into myself! It makes this process of growing up feel so special and exciting.

Also this lyric- "Your dreams and inner visions, all your mystical ambitions"

This lyric was honestly just so fun to sing while listening. I love the words.. my dreams, my inner visions, my mystical ambitions.. how magical!!

I have memories now of biking around Alphen, listening to this summer song during the summer time. The perfect weather, the warm sunlight, the tall trees, the Dutch houses..
