I went to girl in red last night! I’ve got to say, this was probably the worst concert i went to in the Netherlands. At first, I was so excited because everyone was dressed really cute. I thought, oh okay, we’re going to be a chill group. I was wrong. When we all went inside and were all standing close together, it was not so fun. First of all, I was in the middle of the GA area, so I felt trapped on all sides. That was my mistake because the middle of the crowd is the absolute worst place to be in a concert. Either the first few rows or the very back is ideal. The middle was so freaking hot. I felt like I was in a sauna. Especially when the show was going on and we were all dancing and jumping and the lights were going all over the place, the standing area felt so steamy. There were a few songs where I was jumping around and I was like “am I going to faint? I don’t think I’m going to faint, but maybe”.

Second of all, there were so many people who were pushing to the front and using that classic “oh my friends are at the front” excuse. Please. I thought this was something only people in the US do cause the concert etiquette is nonexistent there, but I guess there are annoying concert girlies all over the world. I side eyed so hard but I didn’t say anything cause if you say stop cutting, what if they stop cutting? Then, they have to be with you the whole concert and that’s no fun. ALSO, not just annoying teenage girls. ADULTS. Full adults cutting. I’m sorry- what friends do you have at the GIRL IN RED concert??? There was one guy and girl that were like 40 or 50 pushing teenagers and I was like, huh? You’re old though? Not to be ageist, but like do you even want to be dancing with 16/17/18 year old girls? Also.. it’s a girl in red concert.. so for that straight couple to be pushing their way forward.. iykyk. There was also a mom that was pushing to the front and a tall dude. Can we not push at concerts?

During the concert, a few people passed out and girl in red had to stop the show a few times to call security to pull them out of the crowds. If people did not push up against each other or make it a thing to camp for concerts, concerts would be so much more fun. So, those were the cons. Oh actually the third thing that happened was the girls behind me were so up against me. And they were filming during the concert and her phone kept hitting my left bun cause I was wearing space buns. They kept saying like omg that girl’s space bun keeps hitting my phone. NO your phone keeps hitting my space bun!!! I worked on my left space bun for like thirty minutes so I was annoyed when she kept hitting it. Also, maybe take a step back and let me breathe and also maybe don’t film the concert the whole time? Put your phone down you screenager. Okay, but the concert was really fun despite all those annoying things. First fun thing. The opener was from Texas!!! How fun! Her name is Harriette. She has this song called goodbye Texas about how she’s leaving Texas cause she wants to explore the world, but she still sees Texas as her home. No one can convince I am not the main character because is that not me?? I'm almost positive there weren't any other people in the crowd from Texas. When she said she was from Texas, I was screaming so hard “I’m from Texas too!” and everyone around us was kinda giving me the eye. And girl in red also mentioned Texas for some reason. She started singing one of her songs in a country accent and was like “it’s like I’m from Texas.” She also mentioned Italy because there were some girls in the front of the audience from Italy. I was at the concert with Lori, an exchange student from Italy, and we went crazy. We were both like “we’re from Italy!!!” I’m not from Italy but something took over me in the moment so at that moment I was also from Italy. It was so cool that girl in red talked abt Italy and Texas.. also weird so weird.

Another fun thing was the concert and seeing girl in red perform. The concert got off to a rocky start before girl in red was onstage, but when she started performing, it was so fun. Lori and I were dancing and jumping our hardest the whole time, and it was so fun! There was one song no one really knew but we were screaming so hard and that was probably my favorite moment from the concert. Some girls behind us were videoing us and airdropped it to us which was so cute. Also we were near a group the whole time who was really into the music so the energy was really great during the concert. One thing about the concerts here, the crowds are always so much better. In the US, the artists come to a bunch of cities versus for Europe, they only come to one city in each country. So every time someone comes to Amsterdam, everyone is a huge fan and the energy is awesome.

* the video the girls airdropped us :') Anyway, that’s my concert post. My takeaway from this is that I’m very pessimistic which is something I already knew. But, it’s always a reminder when I go to a concert, how easy it is for me to get so upset about things I can’t control. I need to work on letting things go and focusing on the good parts that are happening now. Like sure, those annoying girls and old people are cutting and that’s not fair cause they showed up later, but it’s even worse to let them ruin my evening and my concert experience. I'm about to do one of my favorite things, attend a concert, and I'm going to let some ratty teenager or old dude ruin my favorite thing? No! I've gotta remember the most important part- that I'm at a concert! That is all. Bye bye Amelia
