no internet for 3 days...

hi i have a little story! last wednesday, i went to jaarmarkt which most towns have here. they set up a bunch of tents and people sell clothes, food, jewelry, candy, and even plastic straws since people here only use paper straws. I parted ways with my friends after going to the Hermis, or fair. I thought I knew where I was going, but then I realized I had no idea where I was going. I was kind of just biking around for 40ish minutes, freaking out. But then, I was like, wait a second, there is wifi everywhere in the Netherlands. And sure enough, I was in the middle of nowhere, like the literal woods, and I still somehow connected to wifi. (Also quick note, my phone doesn't have cellular data right now that's why I needed wifi.)
So, I biked home and I was so tired but happy to be home to watch tv, and then, there was no wifi again! Mar came home a little later and told me the internet had cut out a few hours ago. I was like oh, that's okay the wifi will come back in a few hours, but Mar said the people would fix the internet on Friday. Which was in like three days. And our neighbors didn't have internet either, so everyone was just going to go three days without internet.
But honestly, this was a blessing in disguise. The first few hours without internet, I had no idea what to do which is pretty tragic. I was kind of just like laying on my bed or walking around the house. That night though, since Mar and I had nothing to do, we decided to talk and we talked really late just about life and stuff. It was really nice; I think we really understand each other. The next day, after dinner I crocheted the wallet I've been working on and Mar stitched a blanket on her sewing machine. We played music (good thing I have so much music downloaded). I was playing my crying playlist and Mar really liked it which is so iconic of her. She asked me to send her Conan Gray's music lol. We were listening to Luna Li, and Mar said that she liked her music. And then I checked, and Luna Li is coming to Amsterdam in November, so I bought tickets for us to go! Very excited about that.
On Friday, I was very excited because we were going to get out power back, but then Mar said that the people came to fix the power and they said they don't know how to fix it. And I kind of thought it my head, "what do they mean they don't know what to do?? they're just going to give up??" I was very happy that Mar and I got to bond a lot over the last few days, but like, I wanted to watch netflix at home and text my friends and scroll on Tiktok. Mar said they would fix it by Monday, and that honestly made me sad and a bit sour towards the internet fixer people. however, the next day when i woke up the power was back! so thank goodness for that.
i now have a greater appreciation for the people who bring power back to my house in Houston because I was never that grateful about how quick they would fix it. i do also respect Mar and her neighbors for how well they were able to adjust to life without internet.
anyway, that's my story :)
